Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 23rd, 2026
VaultSort ('we', 'us', or 'our') operates the VaultSort application ('the App'). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App.
Information Collection and Use
Your files never leave your device. VaultSort organizes, deduplicates, encrypts and deletes files entirely locally. We never upload, read or transmit the contents of the files you work with, and we have no way to access them. We do collect a limited amount of other information. The app sends anonymous usage and diagnostic data β which features are used, app and operating system version, and error reports β so that faults can be found and fixed. Your account name and your file names are removed from error reports before they are sent. Each installation is identified by a randomly generated device ID that is not linked to your name or email. You can turn this off in Settings; a minimal anonymous heartbeat containing only app version, platform and device ID continues, so that active installations can be counted. When you download VaultSort, our server records the version, your IP address, browser user agent and referring page. When you buy a licence, our payment provider processes your name, email address and payment details.
Data Processing
The App processes files and directories on your system based on your explicit instructions. This includes organizing directories, deleting duplicate files, securely deleting files, and encrypting or decrypting files. All processing is performed locally, and the App does not access your data beyond what you select for processing.
Local Storage
VaultSort saves settings, preferences and logs on your device. Settings and preferences stay there and are never transmitted. Log entries recording an error are also sent as diagnostic reports, as described above, unless you turn that off in Settings.
Third-Party Services
VaultSort uses a small number of third-party services, none of which ever receive the contents of your files: PostHog (product analytics) receives the anonymous usage and diagnostic data described above, from both the app and this website. On this website it is configured without cookies: it stores nothing on your device and cannot recognise you on a later visit. Location lookup is disabled. Lemon Squeezy is our payment provider and merchant of record. It processes your name, email address and payment details when you buy a licence. We never see or store your card details. Google Analytics and the Reddit advertising pixel are used on this website to understand which content and campaigns bring people to VaultSort. Both store data on your device, so in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they load only if you accept them when asked. Elsewhere they load by default. The Reddit pixel can also receive an email address if you provide one during a purchase, so that a sale can be matched to an advertisement.
Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously. The App utilizes appropriate security measures to protect your data during processing. However, please ensure that you use the App responsibly and understand the implications of operations like secure deletion and encryption.
Children's Privacy
Our App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
